A Letter to Abhishek Sharma

I met you today, after 6 years of watching you on the TV screen. The first time I saw you play was in 2019, while you were batting for SRH alongside Priyam, and I'm not going to lie, I did think "Who is this cute guy?" but as. I watched you play something settled in my gut, a belief solidified that you will reach unbelievable heights one day. A feeling that Abhishek Sharma is a name that everyone will remember very soon.

So I watched you play your game, saw your determination, saw your growth and felt so proud even though I had absolutely nothing to do with it. But Abhi, I have loved watching you grow as a cricketer. I've jumped and danced at every record you broke in the IPL, when you got selected on the Indian Cricket Team, and yesterday.

Oh, yesterday, as I watched you play live for the first time, I shouted at the top of my lungs at your every boundary and that glorious 50.

As mad as it sounds, I couldn't stop smiling as everyone had only one name on their lips: yours, Abhishek Sharma. That's when I realised, this is what it feels like to truly be someone's fan. The joy, the hope, and the belief that overcomes me at your every victory, setback, and comeback is all-consuming.

It was like a dream meeting you today, even if it was only really 30 seconds. But I hope you always know you have a fan for life in me.

I cannot wait to watch you continue to grow and achieve newer and bigger milestones. I'll be cheering from the stands or across the TV screen for as long as you play this game (which I have no doubt will be a very long time).

Your name is one I've been telling everyone to remember for the past 6 years, and without a doubt, I know they'll never forget after watching you play.
