Hello, I'm Anushka
An Indian girl, born in Kolhapur and raised across numerous countries, though I’d have to credit South-East Asia to my becoming so far. Having lived in Singapore for almost 10 years, it has become one of many homes. Now, you’ll find me in Melbourne, where I learn to become, on my own.
If you want to know about my education, well: I graduated high school from Singapore American School, pursued a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Melbourne and am now at the brink of graduating, once again from the University of Melbourne, with a Master of Management: Human Resources.
Education is all I’ve known, and each new chapter has shaped how I view the world and the things I wish to achieve. Education brought me to writing, and no, I’m not talking about all those essays we had to write; I mean poetry. Poetry is what I found in 6th grade at Singapore American School, and I have held onto it ever since. It’s been my voice when I didn’t wish to speak, and it has been my companion through every change.
I crave beauty in the small things: slow mornings, dancing when no one’s watching, long conversations, baking something sweet, or sitting with a warm cup of tea and music that feels like home (usually my Dil Hi To Hai playlist). However, of late, the words no longer seem to come to me, or they disappear before I can blink; not because they vanish but because I’ve been chasing perfect. A perfect that keeps me paralysed from even starting. So here I am, to learn to embrace the messy, imperfect drafts of my writing and myself.
Here is to figuring out the different seasons, so that I may become a little more rooted in who I am, and rewrite what life can look like on my terms.
